Souvlaki

Greece

Souvlaki has been eaten in Greece since antiquity — evidence of ancient barbecue stones dates to 1600 BCE.

Greece's greatest street food — marinated pork on skewers grilled over charcoal until slightly charred. Served with pitta, tomatoes and tzatziki.
