A celebration marking Ghana's status as one of the world's largest cocoa producers, held to coincide with Valentine's Day.
Ghana is one of the world's largest producers of cocoa, yet historically the country has processed and consumed relatively little chocolate itself, exporting most of its raw cocoa abroad. Ghana Chocolate Day, timed to coincide with Valentine's Day, was created specifically to encourage more local chocolate consumption and celebrate the industry.
Ghanaian chocolate makers showcase their products alongside cocoa farmers explaining the crop's journey from pod to bar, giving the celebration a genuine educational element beyond simply being a Valentine's Day marketing tie-in.
