A celebration of Japan's largest Chinatown, a genuinely distinct culinary neighbourhood with over 150 years of history.
Yokohama is home to the largest Chinatown in Japan, established in the 1850s when the port first opened to foreign trade, and this festival celebrates the neighbourhood's genuinely long history with lion dances, traditional performances and food from its many Chinese restaurants.
Steamed buns, dim sum and other Chinese specialities fill the streets throughout the festival, offering a distinctly different food experience from what most visitors associate with Japan, shaped by a century and a half of continuous Chinese community presence.
