A Christmas market repeatedly voted among Europe's best, filling Zagreb's squares with mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and festive food.
Zagreb's Advent market has been voted the best Christmas market in Europe multiple times in reader polls, a genuinely notable achievement for a market that only really developed its current scale in the 2010s, competing successfully against far older, more established markets across the continent.
Mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and traditional Croatian festive treats fill the city's main squares, connected by an ice rink and elaborate lighting that give Zagreb's version of the tradition a particularly polished, well-curated feel.
