Held each October in Moșna, a commune of three villages in Sibiu county made up partly of fortified medieval churches, the Cabbage Festival celebrates the ecological cabbage crops that have made the region locally famous. Sitting close to the better-known Transylvanian villages of Richiș and Biertan, Moșna's festival offers a quieter, more agriculturally-focused alternative to Romania's larger, more tourist-oriented events.

The festival gives visitors the chance to sample the full range of cabbage-based Romanian dishes the region is known for, grown using traditional, ecological farming methods that have helped the crops earn a genuine reputation beyond the immediate area. Given cabbage's central role in Romanian cuisine — used fresh, fermented, stewed or stuffed into sarmale — the festival offers a focused look at a single, humble crop that quietly underpins much of the country's everyday cooking.

For visitors exploring Transylvania's fortified church villages, many of which carry UNESCO World Heritage status, Moșna's festival adds a genuinely local agricultural dimension to what's often a purely architectural or historical visit.
