One of Costa Rica's largest annual festivals, mixing rodeo, concerts and traditional Costa Rican food over nearly two weeks.
Held each January in the small town of Palmares, this festival has grown into one of the largest annual events in Costa Rica, drawing visitors from across the country for nearly two weeks of rodeo, concerts and carnival rides.
Traditional Costa Rican dishes — including plenty of grilled meats and the ubiquitous gallo pinto — are served throughout the festival grounds, making it as much a showcase of Costa Rican home cooking as it is a fairground spectacle.
