A celebration of Mexico's national spirit held in Jalisco, the region legally required to produce anything called tequila.
Tequila can, by Mexican law, only be produced in a defined region centred on the state of Jalisco — and each year, the Feria Internacional del Tequila celebrates that heritage at its literal source. The festival brings together producers from the great agave-growing towns of the region, offering tastings that range from mass-market brands to small-batch, artisanal expressions rarely seen outside Mexico.
Beyond the tequila itself, the festival includes agave field tours, traditional charreada horsemanship displays, live mariachi music and regional Jalisco cooking, giving visitors a fuller picture of the culture surrounding Mexico's most internationally recognised spirit.
For a drink so often reduced abroad to shots and margaritas, the festival makes a clear case for tequila as a genuinely serious, terroir-driven spirit with centuries of tradition behind it.
