Louisiana's official crawfish capital hosts this Cajun celebration of crawfish étouffée, boils and zydeco music each spring.
Breaux Bridge was officially designated the "Crawfish Capital of the World" by the Louisiana state legislature, and this festival — running since 1960 — is the town's biggest annual celebration of that title. Crawfish boils, étouffée and other Cajun crawfish dishes are served throughout the weekend.
Zydeco and Cajun music runs continuously across multiple stages, and a crawfish-eating contest draws serious competitors each year — the festival is as much a celebration of Cajun culture broadly as it is of the crustacean itself.
