Now in its second decade and counting, Tasting Australia has grown from a single Adelaide event into the country's longest-running celebration of food and drink. Held each May, the festival spreads across more than 150 individual events, spotlighting South Australia's genuine strength as a food and wine region — the Barossa, Fleurieu Peninsula, Flinders Ranges and Limestone Coast all get their moment alongside the main programme in Adelaide itself.

What sets Tasting Australia apart is its range: on one end, there are accessible, affordable market-style tastings anyone can wander into; on the other, exclusive collaborative dinners pairing Australia's best chefs with international guests, often held in unexpected venues like Adelaide's cultural clubs or working wineries. The Club Series, for instance, invites the city's Italian, Austrian, Polish, Hellenic and Slovenian community clubs to open their doors for one-off feasts celebrating their own culinary heritage alongside leading Australian chefs.

With over 150 events across ten days, most visitors pick a handful of experiences rather than attempting the whole programme — but the sheer scale is exactly what's made it the country's benchmark food and wine festival for nearly two decades.
