Refried Beans

Mexico

Frijoles refritos are not actually 'refried'; refrito means 'well fried' in Spanish. The beans are cooked, then mashed and fried until thick.

Creamy, savoury mashed pinto beans cooked with onion and garlic. A staple of the Mexican table.
