Chakalaka

South Africa

Chakalaka is a beloved township invention, valued for turning inexpensive tinned and fresh vegetables into a vibrant, spicy relish.

A spicy South African relish of carrot, pepper and bean simmered in a tangy tomato base — the classic accompaniment to pap and braai meats.
