Vaca Frita

Cuba

The other shredded beef dish of Cuba, alongside ropa vieja. Where ropa vieja is sauced, vaca frita is dry and crispy.

Fried shredded beef — flank steak boiled then pan-fried until the shreds are crispy and caramelised at the edges, with lime and onion. One of Cuba's great simple dishes.
