Kuchen

Chile

The most visible German legacy in Chile. Every bakery in Valdivia and Puerto Montt sells kuchen.

Chilean German fruit cake — a butter pastry base topped with fruit and a cream custard, baked until golden. Brought by German settlers to the Chilean lake district in the 1850s.
