Aguapanela

Colombia

Aguapanela is Colombia's national drink, consumed from the Amazon to the Andes. It is drunk hot in the cold highlands and cold in the tropical coast. Colombian children grow up drinking it for breakfast, and it is the first thing offered to a visitor in any Colombian home.

Colombia's most comforting drink — raw cane sugar (panela) dissolved in hot water with lime juice. The drink of Colombian childhoods, cold mornings and long nights.
