Buñuelos Cubanos

Cuba's Christmas tradition. The figure-eight shape has symbolic meaning. Made only in December.

Cuban Christmas fritters — a dough of malanga, yuca and calabaza shaped into figure-eights and fried, then drenched in anise syrup. Eaten exclusively at Christmas and New Year.
