Anzac Biscuits

Australia

Made by Australian women to send to soldiers during WW1. The recipe used golden syrup instead of eggs because eggs were scarce. A national symbol of remembrance.

Australian wartime biscuits — golden syrup, rolled oats, coconut and flour baked until golden. Sent to soldiers in the First World War.
